This Browser Extension Privacy Policy ("Policy") describes how the Animate Old Photos browser extension ("Extension"), available on the Chrome Web Store and the Microsoft Edge Add-ons Store, collects, uses, stores, and protects your information. This Policy supplements our main Privacy Policy and applies specifically to data collected through the Extension.

1. About the Extension

The Animate Old Photos browser extension allows you to upload static photos and transform them into short animated videos using AI technology, directly from your browser. The Extension communicates with https://animateoldphotos.org for API requests and with Cloudflare R2 storage (r2.cloudflarestorage.com) for secure image uploads.

2. Information We Collect

2.1 Information You Provide

• Extension Access Code: A credential you enter to authenticate the Extension with your Animate Old Photos account. This code is stored locally in your browser using the browser's extension storage API (chrome.storage.local on Chrome and Edge).
• Images: Photos you upload through the Extension for animation processing. Images are uploaded to our servers solely for the purpose of generating animated videos.
• Prompt Text (Optional): A text description you may provide to guide the animation style.

2.2 Information Generated During Use

• Access Token: A short-lived authentication token issued by our server after verifying your Extension Access Code. Stored locally and automatically refreshed when expired.
• Credit Balance: Your current credit count, cached locally for display purposes.
• Task Data: Task identifiers and status information used to track your animation request progress.

2.3 Information We Do NOT Collect

• Browsing history or activity: The Extension does not monitor, track, or access your browsing behavior.
• Website content: The Extension does not read, modify, or inject content into any web page.
• Personal identifiers: The Extension does not collect your name, email address, or any personally identifiable information beyond what is associated with your Animate Old Photos account.
• Cookies or tracking data: The Extension does not use cookies or any third-party tracking mechanisms.

3. How We Use Your Information

• Authentication: Your Extension Access Code is used to verify your identity and grant access to the animation service.
• Image Processing: Uploaded images are sent to our servers exclusively for AI-powered animation generation. Images are not used for any other purpose.
• Service Delivery: Prompt text, task identifiers, and credit balance are used solely to provide and manage the animation service.

4. Data Storage and Security

4.1 Local Storage

The following data is stored locally in your browser via the extension storage API:

• Extension Access Code
• Access token and its expiration time
• Credit balance
• Form draft (prompt text)
• Last task information
• Pending image reference (when using the right-click menu)

This data never leaves your browser except when communicating with https://animateoldphotos.org and Cloudflare R2 storage as part of normal Extension operation. You can clear all local data at any time by disconnecting your account within the Extension or by uninstalling the Extension.

4.2 Server-Side Storage

Uploaded images and generated videos are retained on our servers for a limited period (currently 30 days) and are automatically deleted thereafter. The specific retention period may be adjusted and will be reflected on our website. Users may also manually delete their data at any time through their account dashboard on the official website at animateoldphotos.org.

4.3 Security Measures

• All communication between the Extension and our servers uses HTTPS encryption.
• Access tokens are short-lived and automatically expire, limiting the window of exposure.
• The Extension only communicates with https://animateoldphotos.org and Cloudflare R2 storage for image uploads; no data is sent to any other servers.

5. Permissions

The Extension requests the following browser permissions, each for a specific and necessary purpose:

• contextMenus: Enables a right-click menu option on images within animateoldphotos.org to quickly send them to the Extension for animation.
• storage: Stores your access credentials, credit balance, and form drafts locally in the browser.
• sidePanel: Displays the Extension interface in a browser side panel for a more convenient workflow.
• host_permissions (animateoldphotos.org): Allows the Extension to communicate with the Animate Old Photos API for authentication, task submission, and status polling.
• host_permissions (r2.cloudflarestorage.com): Allows the Extension to upload images directly to our secure cloud storage (Cloudflare R2) using time-limited pre-signed URLs.

The Extension does not request access to any other websites, tabs, or browsing data.

6. Data Sharing

We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information or uploaded content with any third parties, except:

• AI Processing: Uploaded images are processed by our AI animation service solely for the purpose of generating animated videos. Images are not used for model training or any purpose unrelated to your requested animation.
• Legal Requirements: We may disclose information if required by law or in response to valid legal requests.

7. Your Choices and Rights

• Disconnect: You can disconnect your account from the Extension at any time, which clears your locally stored credentials.
• Uninstall: Uninstalling the Extension removes all locally stored data.
• Delete Server Data: You can delete your uploaded images and generated videos through your account dashboard on the official website.
• Revoke Access Code: You can revoke your Extension Access Code from your account settings on the official website, immediately preventing further use of that code.

8. Children's Privacy

The Extension is not intended for use by children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Policy from time to time. Material changes will be posted on this page with an updated effective date.
